Just an FYI for those of you who have bought or plan to buy the plans for Paul Woolson's tennon jig...when I built the first jig, I realized I needed a way to allow luthiers to adjust the height of the aluminum channel in order to accomodate different locations at which the neck can be joined.

Instead of attaching the channel from the base, I attached it from the leg. I made a t-slot, using a 3/8" keyhole router bit, 7/16" from the edge of the wood. I put two holes about 3" apart in the leg of the channel. I use 10-24 machine screws and square nuts that fit into the t-slot to lock the channel at the desired height. This enables me to do guitars joined at the 12th fret, 14th fret, etc.

My Woolson/Holden Jig just arrived and it was just as I expected........PERFECT! Craig you are one heck of a guy! This jig was well packaged and ready to go! Perfectly machined and assembled! Realy nice work!
It's probably going to be a few weeks before I get to use it But I just know I am going to love it! ( many dumb questions may follow although both Craig and Paul have already answered many). Craig's adjustable idea on the bridge beam is a great idea...I see it's use for other instruments like uke's and mando's. Very Happy Customer...worth every penny!

Craig, I now see from Dave's pics what you are talking about with the
adjustment. GREAT IDEA!!! I only use one scale length so I've got a hole
for 12fretters and a hole for 14 fretters.
The only drawback is that I would probably forget to change the
adjustment on it and not be able to figure out why I have a 7? neck angle.
(Now would I do something stupid like that?)

Dave, when you figure out what your maximum angle will be, I'd cut off
that adjustment bolt a little closer to the base. My first thought is that it
would make a nice 1/4" hole in the top of a guitar.
Either that or you could mount a tennis ball on the end like people do on
thier trailer hitches>

Cool I thought about this when drawing it but keep as true as possible to Pauls lauout. Notice I tell the builder to adjust the location of the set back screw hole to met required scale length on the plans. But this is an even better idea way to go Craig MichaelP38743.4882291667

Okay, duh, I packaged the jig up to get it out to Dave as he had been patiently waiting for it, and forgot to take my own pics. So, thanks for putting them up Dave (and for your most kind comments ).

Paul had a great idea with this jig, I needed to make this one change because I'm building it for multiple builders with different needs, so I thought it might be helpful for those who are purchasing the plans. It's a great jig though, and Paul deserves the credit.
